Beam network model for fracture of materials with hierarchical microstructure

چکیده

Abstract We introduce a beam network model for hierarchically patterned materials. In these materials, load-parallel gaps intercept stress transmission in the load perpendicular direction such manner that damage is confined within nested, load-carrying ‘modules’. describe morphological characteristics of materials terms deterministically constructed, hierarchical (DHBN) models and randomized variants thereof. then use to analyse process accumulation (characterized by locations timings breakages prior global failures, concomitant avalanche statistics) failure. demonstrate that, irrespective degree local disorder, failure (micro)structured characterized diffuse nucleation which ultimately percolates on network, but never stress-driven propagation critical crack. Failure non reference networks, other hand, sequence nucleation, crack formation propagation. These differences are apparent at low intermediate degrees material disorder disappear very strongly disordered where strengths exhibit extreme scatter. furthermore independent different modes lead significant fracture surface morphology.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

A Multi-objective Hierarchical Location-allocation Model for the Healthcare Network Design Considering a Referral System

This paper presents a multi-objective and multi-service location-allocation model with capacity planning to design a healthcare facilities network through considering a referral system. Therefore, a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model containing two objective functions is proposed. The first objective function is  relates to minimization of total opening cost, minimization of tota...
